7Delete an entity

!

During restructuring of a site, some entities may need to be deleted.

Entities here refers to the top level structural elements, like subsite, category, article and locale. These are deleted from their own page, but only if they are not being used or referred to.

Note that:
  1. a.The main subsite cannot be deleted.
  2. b.A default category does not have a page where it can be deleted.
  3. c.A home page cannot be deleted.
  4. d.The master locale cannot be removed.
  5. e.All text for a removed locale is deleted from everywhere, including old versions of articles.

Steps

The role to perform this procedure is: Master manager.

To delete an entity:1Open the entity's page

by, at the Work list page, drilling down to the entity's ID in the Access section, then clicking on it.

The page is displayed, with:
  1. a.If a locale, a table with a Remove row as its last.
  2. b.Otherwise, in its Details section, a Delete row as its last.

If Cannot: appears in the row, go to step 2, otherwise, step 3.

2Clear impediments
by, after clicking the checkbox if not a locale:

Clicking the message will go to where the action can be taken, or shows a list of what other entities to take the action upon.

3Delete the entity

by clicking the checkbox, then clicking the revealed new checkbox, then clicking the Confirm button.

The response is either:
  1. a.If a locale, the Manage: Log in page is displayed.
  2. b.Otherwise, a largely empty version of the page is displayed with Deleted followed by the entity's ID.
